What TenPenny Home does

TenPenny Home is a directory and connection service, not a contractor. We help homeowners in Minnesota and Wisconsin find local contractors, and for many trades we feature one vetted contractor per county. We do not perform home services ourselves, and we do not employ the contractors listed on the site.

Directory listings are provided as is

The contractor listings, service areas, and other directory information on this site are provided as is, for your convenience. We work to keep listings accurate, but we cannot promise that every detail, such as a contractor's current availability, licensing, phone number, or service area, is complete or up to date. Confirm the details that matter to you directly with the contractor before you hire.

About our vetting

For contractors we mark as "TenPenny Vetted," we describe the checks we run, such as confirming state licensing, active insurance, customer reviews, and an owner interview. Those checks reflect what we reviewed at a point in time. They are not a guarantee of a contractor's work, and they do not make us responsible for the work a contractor performs. A vetted badge means we did the checks we describe, not that we warrant the outcome of any job.

Cost figures are estimates only

The cost ranges, calculators, and guides on this site are general estimates, not quotes. Real prices depend on your specific project, materials, site conditions, and the contractor you choose. Use our figures to plan, and get a firm written quote from a contractor before you commit.

You contract directly with the contractor

Any agreement for home services is strictly between you and the contractor. TenPenny Home is not a party to that agreement. We do not negotiate, sign, guarantee, or manage the contract, the payment, the schedule, or the work. If a dispute comes up about the work, the price, or anything else, you and the contractor resolve it between yourselves.

Before you hire, we recommend you confirm the contractor's license and insurance, get the scope and price in a written contract, and keep copies of everything.

No professional advice

The content on this site is general information, not professional advice. Our guides and cost pages do not replace advice from a licensed contractor, engineer, inspector, or other professional for your specific situation.

Limitation of liability

TenPenny Home is not liable for the work, conduct, or agreements of any contractor you find through this site. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not responsible for any loss or damage that results from using this site, from relying on its information, or from hiring a contractor you found here. The site and its content are provided as is, without warranties of any kind.

Some pages link to contractor websites or other third-party sites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their services, or their privacy practices.

The TenPenny Home name, design, and original content on this site belong to us. Please do not copy or reuse them without our permission.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site grows or the law changes. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
